'Power Rangers' Reboot Begins Production And Releases Official Synopsis
Filming on Power Rangers is now officially underway in Vancouver, with Director Dean Israelite working alongside a cast that includes the relative newcomer Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger; Naomi Scott (The Martian) as Kimberly the Pink Ranger; RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) as Billy the Blue Ranger; Ludi Lin (Monster Hunt) as Zack the Black Ranger; and pop music star Becky Gomez as Trini the Yellow Ranger. Lionsgate/Saban have also unveiled the official synopsis for the film too, along with additional details on the project’s credited list of screenwriters and crew members.
Here is the official synopsis for Power Rangers (2017):
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
Power Rangers might seem like a weird news post for a giant monsters podcast, but I think if you grew up on the original series, it more than reminded you of some classic kaiju films so we're including it. Agree with us? Cautiously excited for the reboot? Let us know in the comments what you think.
New Japanese Videogame Tasks Players With Surviving A Giant Monster Attack, Includes Ultraman and Godzilla
The developer behind the Disaster Report series is making a survival action-adventure game of a different breed with City Shrouded in Shadow. Instead of tasking players with surviving natural disasters like earthquakes and floods, developer Granzella's new game will focus on surviving the fallout of an Ultraman battle or an attack from Godzilla. The game will release on PS4 and PS Vita.

J.J. Abrams Confirms No Giant Monster In Giant Monster Movie Sequel
Just yesterday, Cloverfield producer J.J. Abrams teased that a third film with ties to the original found footage monster movie might be following next month’s forthcoming 10 Cloverfield Lane.
However, today he attempts to keep expectations for the sci-fi flick in check by telling us that despite the connections that are being made between this new movie and the 2008 film, “It’s not Cloverfield 2.” Find out what else J.J. Abrams had to say about the little Cloverfield universe they’re building below.
“The story of this movie – and it came to us originally as a spec that was very different in a lot of ways and an unrelated thing altogether – is definitely about different kinds of monsters. And while the Cloverfield monster isn’t in this movie, there’s a new monster and there’s something else that happens… but I don’t want to ruin the ending.” - J.J. Abrams in an interview with Fandango.
Do you think this is another situation where J.J. Abrams is trying to hide the truth? If not, are you still excited to see '10 Cloverfield Lane?' Let us know in the comments below.

'Godzilla: Resurgence' A new Toho Godzilla Film Announced
A decade after Godzilla: Final Wars (2004), Toho is ready to return the nuclear menace to the big screen. 2014 has been a big year for the King of the Monsters, both with Godzilla (2014) and his 60th birthday landing on the year. The Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros film was a hit in Japan, scoring over 3.2 billion yen at the box office at the time of writing this. That doesn't measure up to the Heisei series, but was a significant gain over all of the Millennium series pictures. Toho is eager to follow that up with a film of their own.
