We had some big news coming from Legendary studios this last week! 355 feet of news to be exact! 'Godzilla: King of Monsters' has nabbed itself a director right out of a high rise apartment in New York! Wait, that's Kong's deal.
Michael Dougherty, who was the director of two horror films (Krampus and Trick r' Treat), will be the pilot for the 3rd installment of Legendary's Monsterverse.
While I haven't seen 'Trick r' Treat' I did enjoy 'Krampus' quite a bit. The sequence that stands out for me is a bit where the 'Krampus' is leaping from building to building in storm as a character tries to out run him. I think this could translate well to a boots on the ground sequence with character's trying to out run a kaiju attack.
I am still cautious though, as Dougherty's limited experience in the directors seat and a specific focus on smaller budget horror movies does set off some red flags.
But what do you think? Will Michael prove to be Drift compatible with this franchise, or will this be another case of Hollywood hiring an indie darling and throwing him into the deep end?
